Teaching Grad Students How to Connect with Careers with Northern Illinois University
May 6 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
With 86% of students listing landing a good job after graduation as a critical factor in choosing a college, institutions are starting to pay more attention to how to connect their students with career pathways. But there might be something missing. How can your institution use the jobs data to better inform students to take ownership of their career plans.
In this Burning Glass Technologies webinar, Northern Illinois University will show you how faculty and staff taught graduate students how to clarify and pursue their professional goals. The new Graduate Career and Professional Development Office developed new graduate courses focused on careers. Professors Gary Baker and Elizabeth Wilkins led the effort to enable graduate students to improve their hiring potential through more engaging, labor-aligned courses and guide them through their career pathways and create resources for these students to develop their individual plan.
In this webinar, we will walk through how Burning Glass Technologies and NIU used labor market data and professional development planning to address the career challenges graduate students face.
This webinar will be hosted at 2pm on Wednesday, May 6. Register here.
